FORMAL RECEPTION OF STUDENTS, LAUREATES OF EUROPEAN AND WORLD COMPETITIONS

Honouring the students who won the first place in the International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition in the Hague, the University of Novi Sad organized a formal reception for the winning team. The reception was held on 3rd June at 10 a.m. in the hall of the Central University Building, and the winning team was welcomed by Rector of the University of Novi Sad, Professor Dušan Nikolić, PhD. In addition to Rector of the University of Novi Sad, Professor Dušan Nikolić, PhD, the attendees were also addressed by: Assistant Professor Bojan Tubić, PhD, one of the winning team’s mentors, Teaching  Assistant Stefan Samardžić, the team coach, as well as by the student Stefan Radojčić.


A brief music programme was organized as part of the formal reception. Ana Vujović, a third-year student of the Academy of Arts of the University of Novi Sad, performed a composition by Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata in C Major, Movement I.

At the ICC Moot Court Competition, the team of students from the Faculty of Law of the University of Novi Sad was announced as the winner in the category Best Government Counsel Team. The competition in which 60 universities from the whole world participated was organized by Leiden University (the Netherlands). The students from the Faculty of Law received the highest grades for their work from the Judges of International Criminal Courts, eminent professors, and diplomats, and this year’s success confirms prior remarkable results. The students from the Faculty of Law have participated in numerous international competitions since 2003 and achieved notable results.
The mentors of the winning team which won the first place this year in the prestigious international moot court competition were: Professor Branislav Ristivojević, PhD, Professor Sanja Đajić, PhD, Assistant Professor Bojan Tubić, PhD, as well as team coach and Teaching Assistent Stefan Samardžić. The speaker representing the Government Counsel was Stefan Radojčić, the role of the Prosecutor was assumed by Jelena Radmanović, and the role of the Victims’ Counsel was performed by Jelena Vuković. Jelena Ristić and Jovana Petrović were Researchers, whereas Assistants were Milena Rašković, Jelena Jovanović, and Marko Linta.

Honouring the students who achieved remarkable results in a robotics competition and a harp competition, the University of Novi Sad organized a formal reception on 27th June 2016. The laureates were welcomed by Rector of the University of Novi Sad, Professor Dušan Nikolić, PhD.

Laureates of the ʻEurobotʼ International Students Robotic Contest

At the ʻEurobotʼ International Students Robotic Contest, held on 11th and 12th June in Paris, the students of the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad won the second and third place, competing with 33 teams from 18 countries. The Faculty of Technical Sciences participated with a total of three teams: ʻMBSʼ, ʻM41+ʼ and ʻMemristorʼ, which won the second, third, and ninth place respectively.

This year’s success of student teams represents the highest ranking of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in a 15-year-long history of its participation in ʻEurobotʼ, thus positioning the University of Novi Sad at the very top of this prestigious European competition. In the preceding years, the best result was achieved in 2009 by winning the third place, and afterwards in 2012 by being ranked third and fourth.

The teams representing Serbia were composed of students from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management and the Department of Power, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering at the Faculty of Technical Sciences. The students’ preparations for the competition lasting several months were supervised by Professor Branislav Borovac, PhD and his associates: Assistant Professor Mirko Raković, PhD, Teaching Assistant Jovica Tasevski, Assistant Professor Milutin Nikolić,  Teaching Assistant Srđan Savić, and Researcher Aleksandar Batinica.

The second place in Europe was won by the ʻMBSʼ team: Marko Markov, Miroslav Kazimirović, Mladen Bojadžija, Đorđe Rajić, Dušan Parnicki, Radisav Gašević, Nemanja Petković, Tijana Titelac, and Miloš Rađenović.

The third place in Europe was won by the ʻM41+ʼ team: Nenad Peleš, Oliver Kakučka, Ivan Brzica, Nenad Iličić, Žarko Prolić, Nikola Dobrijević, Sava Vranešević, and Marko Perišić.

The ninth place in Europe was won by the ʻMemristorʼ team: Aleksandar Milankov, Rade Papić, Boris Staletić, Miloš Arbanas, Miloš Jovanović, Darko Lukić, Đorđe Novaković, Sava Radovac, Miodrag Brkić, Dragan Gostojić, Lazar Tešanović, Dušan Najdenov, Darko Alavanja, Nenad Komar, Milan Boberić, Jovan Babić, Mladen Babić, Igor Lemajić, Predrag Vasiljević, Nikola Rasević, Nikola Jurišić, Sreten Vasiljević, and Uroš Živković.

Laureate of  the USAIHC – USA International Harp Competition

Lenka Petrović, the third-year harp student in the class of Associate Professor Staša Mirković Grujić and Expert Associate Mina Momčilović, won the third prize and a special prize for perfoming a piece composed for the International Harp Competition (USAIHC) in Bloomington in the USA, as the youngest finalist.

The aforesaid prestigious international harp competition USAIHC in Bloomington was initiated in 1989, and this year it was held from 8th to 18th June. There were 43 contestants who were selected from among the winners of international competitions which took place in 2015.

All contestants were between the ages of 18 and 32. The competition has four stages, whereas three of them include recitals with the required repertoire and a free choice programme. The fourth stage is the set orchestral concert.

This is the first time in history of this American competition that the prize winner is a contestant from Serbia.
